Weber Smokey Mountain 2 2.5 inch Smoker
With the Weber Smokey Mountain 2 2.5 Inch Cooker, not only has the Weber Smokey Mountain 2820 been improved, it's also been given a bigger brother.
Weber have made some slight improvements to their top selling smoker, the 2820
and called it the Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 inch Smoker. For everyone with
a 2820, these are the differences that you should know about:
- A lid mounted thermometer. No longer any need to customise you Weber to
include a thermometer or to place a thermometer inside.
- Larger front door.
- A bottom mounted heat shield that will protect whatever surface you put
your smoker on. This has the effect of reflecting the heat back up into the
smoker and so making it more efficeint.
Then for all the fans that wanted something bigger they've created the 22.5
inch model. The only real difference between the 18.5 inch and the 22.5 inch
is the size.

The original Weber Smokey Mountain has been a classic smoker ever since it was
first introduced and has been the favorite of many barbecue enthusiasts.
The Weber Smokey Mountain 22.5 inch Smoker combines all the good points associated
with the original 2820 model; ease of use, the ability to hold a temperature
for long periods durability, and with the increase in size you can cook even
more food in it. The 762 square inch cooking area is spread between two levels
supported by 22.5 inch diameter nickel plated cooking grates, giving the opportunity
to cook in the region of 60 pounds of food. This Weber is hard to beat in it's
price bracket. That said, there are many more expensive smokers that will struggle
to compete with this smoker.
The Smokey mountain is a water smoker that uses charcoal as the heat source
so creating the authentic smokehouse flavor that we all love.
The porcelain enamalled steel water pan provides the steam to keep your food
moist and juicy. There are individual air vents in the bowl at the bottom of
the smoker and in the lid so that you can control the air flow, allowing for
longer burning charcoal. Exactly what barbecue smoking is all about - low and
slow. Many other smokers don't have this facility. The nylon heat resistant
handle stays cool to the touch and the thermometer is a great improvement on
the Weber Smokey Mountain 2820. With the 2820 model you either needed to drill
a hole in the lid and fix in a thermometer, or you placed one inside the cooking
area which meant that yoiu had to take of the lid to check the temperature.
The body of the unit is heavy gauge steel with a porcelain coating - very durable.
These smokers can be seen on the competition circuit where they receive some
pretty harsh treatment with little detriment.
